When I have had to service my gear away from a workshop and the filter has looked a bit old, I have soaked it in some vinegar to clean it up a bit. This doesn't seem to hurt the filter one bit and a jet of compressed air blows out all the liquid. I would say that vinegar is a lot more harsh than salt water so you shouldn't have any problems. BTW the sintered filters are usually quite coarse and only stop large particles from blowing through the reg. Blowing salt water through the reg may have long term corrosion implications but considering that you would only be doing it in an emergency situation, avoiding rust inside my reg would be the last thing on my mind. :-) James Dibbs Sydney, Australia -----Original Message----- From: Phi Le [mailto:PLe@Se*.co*] Sent: Thursday, 25 March 1999 1:24 PM To: techdiver@aquanaut.com; 'TClagett@ao*.co*' Subject: Switching regs underwater I tried it and it works fine. If the sintered filter got fouled, wouldn't removing it solve the problem ?
