BSAC are not recommending Nitrox usage yet and as you were at the DOC you also know that they are re-assessing this viewpoint right now. Chris Allen was on the original working party which decided not to endorse its use. I think that this was the wrong decision but if you have seen Chris in his previous role reporting incidents I think you'd agree that he has integrity ( he may be wrong but his opinions are sincerely held). Another member of the group actively dives nitrox ( and I believe trimix but that's from memory). BSAC are being cautious. I think they'll change. Disagree with them by all means and try to change their minds with facts, as I will, but don't caricature them or attack them. They are responsible for many divers - most intelligent and highly skilled ( oh yes and good looking ) as we both are but there are a few boneheads looking for increasingly complex ways to kill themselves ( Get bent take O2 go for another dive!!). Let's influence them to make the right decision. If this is the result of a sense of humour failure I apologise but I have seen a gradual change at both grass roots level and with the few 'worthies' that I have met on courses etc - we're nearly there..Trimix next??
