I have found that the only public available model that is described in sufficient detail is the Buehlmann model. You can find the precise description in A.A. Buehlmmans book "Tauchmedizin: Barotrauma, Gasembolie, Dekompression, Dekompressionskrankheit" , pubished by Springer. The original work is in german. I know there is an english translation, but I dont know if its the latest edition(4th, 1995). I am working on a free dive planing software, too. The core is already working. This includes buehlmann based deco calculation, oxygen tracking, table generation with pyle deep stops, gas blending and graphical display of dive profiles. Whats missing is a major part of the GUI, post dive analysis, logbook and equipment dependend dive planing, rebreather support and of course the user documentation. The software is written in java to maximise portability. I use a modified saturation calculation formula that is capable of calculating linear accents/descents without interpolation. The formula was derived by solving the underlying differential equations for accent/descent profiles with an initial (inert)gas change. Of course the formula yields the same result in case that you are calculating the saturation of steps with accentrate = 0. Ie. if you only decribe your dive using square profiles it's 100% Buehlmann. The simulation results suggest that my formula is right. I am in contact with two different experts from distinct hyperbaric treatment & research facillities which will review my prove.
