Case,

We've been giving this Y2K thing a lot of thought. As first we thought
it meant Y to K, but once you change all the Y's to K's sentence don't
make sense any more i.e. We want kou to go diving on Wednesdak and
Thursdak. However, the actual computer based problem was rapidly
explained to us, so we are little better prepared now. We've sold our
stock in Microsoft, Intel, IBM, and AOL and have used the money to
stockpile weapons. We've opened accounts in every bank we can find, paid
in 20 dollars and are waiting to see what we can withdraw next year (101
years of interest should be good). We've got rid of the old toaster, it
was made in 1990, and lets face it, who wants toast in the new
millennium thats toasted for 2 minutes and 100 years. But anyways, to
your problem.

I dive with a nitek, and this is worrying me a little (serious interlude
here before dive rite jump at me. The time and date on the nitek play no
part in the dive itself, you will still get correct dive information.
Back to the attempt at humour), so I have decided to investigate buying
a computer based on Judaism time. That way, my only concern is the Y10K
bug. Any one know of such a computer?

As for the tanks, have you consider stock piling some of them also?
Alternatively, do like I did with the banks and you should be able to
buy new tanks. In fact you should be able to buy a M72 tank from russian
surplus to drive back and forth to the dive shop and thus avoid being
mugged by looters.

As for the dive on New Years Eve itself, my learned friend here tells me
the following. A fully laden 747 weighs in at 800,000 pounds. It flys at
35,000 feet with a cruise speed of 550mph (thats mach .8 at altitude if
you're really interested). Given a nose down dive from cruising
altitude, on impact with the water it will drop down 151 feet. Given
that you want a safety margin, in open water you would need to be at
least a 30 foot deeper, i.e. 181 feet. Now that means you are into
trimix for the time you will need to be down there. The problem now is,
you need to plan you're trimix dive using a computer. I say stick with
the cave. I'm having my learned friend working on the impact crater
calculations now to give you a minimum save cave depth also.

Hope this all helps.

Ranjit

Please note, the ideas for Y2K were from the top 5 list. Here's there
copyright notice which I need to add. The rest of the attempt at humour
is mine.
