Gordy Can't say I've tried Kayaking and diving but I have practised donning my kit on the surface, albeit in easy conditions. Here are some things to try if you have not already done so: * Have your harness straps not too tight. This may sound obvious but I initially had my straps too tight and found difficulty removing my kit. Loosening them avoided this problem. I was also able to get rid of my training wheels (ankle weights). * Connect the LP hose to your dry suit before you attempt to get into it. * Do not over inflate your wing. You end up fighting the buoyancy. Add just enough gas to stop your kit sinking. * Take your time. David Shimell Project Manager, Sequent Computer Systems Ltd., Sandton, South Africa. I've approached the DIR methods with an open mind and have since switched over to this line of thinking... I love the setup but have one problem with it and so the question is this. I also do a lot of kayak diving in the Pacific Northwest. This calls for donning my gear while on a drifting kayak before getting in the water. I've tried doing this on the kayak and in water but have had nothing but problems getting into the harness.... I know this list is Tech but I do both and will continue to kayak dive since it is such a blast. Are there any tricks to donning in the water that I'm missing. Keep in mind that most of the time the kayak and I are drifting while donning. Any tricks, idea's or thoughts would be helpful. I'm diving dry so I've got the drysuit valves to deal with as well. With a typical recreational bc it's just a matter of getting the shoulder straps loose and slipping in and tightening. I want to dive DIR.... I just need a way to do it in this situation without drifting into the next time zone before I'm ready to go diving...
