Jim Cobb wrote: See: > http://www.infinet.com/~toddl/caverig/howknot.html I'm another lurker (only recently) but was prompted to post after checking out the link mentioned above which covers the setup of a Hogarthian doubles rig. The line that particularly caught my attention was in relation to the optimum lift capacity for wings, arguing that double bladders are unnecessary with drysuits (for obvious reasons) and also for wetsuits since: "When diving wet, it's especially important to choose your cylinders carefully to avoid being excessively negative, but in a worst case you can inject air into the sleeve of the wetsuit to assist with the ascent." I'm in the process of upgrading my gear and have been looking at the pros and cons of OMS, Halcyon etc. I'm aware of the hostility of the Halcyon DIR crowd towards OMS in particular and one of the main issues, apart from the anti-bungee tirades, seems to be that OMS gear offers 'unnecessary' redundancy. A prime example I guess would be the 100lb lift capacity OMS double bladder. My question is this: what to do if you are diving wet (I live in Asia and diving dry is somehwhat impractical when gearing up on an open boat when its 35 degrees!). With twin steels on the back and a couple of stages, plus lights, cameras etc. I don't feel comfortable with just a 65lb BC, and suggesting that I attempt to inflate my wetsuit in an emergency by stuffing a reg. up my sleeve doesn't seem like a reliable bail-out option.
