Curt, You might wish to be more aggressive in your pursuit of knowledge! It will be a long time coming if you wait for it to show up in your e-mail box. And, you will feel real dumb if you ask a question that was heavily argued back and forth just before you got on the list! (the teacher lied, there is such a thing as a dumb question - one that was answered while you were snoozing!) Suggest you do what I did/am still doing which is go back to the begining of the lists (cavers & techdiver) and review each posting for content. Those that are limited to four letter words or suggest activities you feel can be better left to White House interns can be passed over very quickly! In the rest you will find an incredible amount of VERY worthwhile information (in my never to be humble opinion). I came to the table with a similar background to you, 1st diving course (pre-certification era) 1962, new to "tech" diving and never to old to learn from someone who knows of what they are talking. You will also, over a period of time, figure out who the players are, who was faking who, who speaks from experience and who creates situations out of "whole cloth" for the apparent purpose of trying to justify their (very weak) position. Strongly suggest you get a copy of the video WKPP - Doing It Right II. Best $30 you will every spend in diving. George Irvine and Bill Mee do an incredible job. This alone will answer most of your questions.
