I'm involved in the business and it's very much an uphill road re-educating the diving public about DIR. Many people love the d rings, gadgets, dual bladders, deep air stuff. Many shops have pushed this very concept and it's now very deeply ingrained. Go out on the boats and sit back and watch, if it wasn't so sad and dangerous it would be funny. In their defense they don't get it (the shops) and dive in the same manner. I don't see it changing nearly as fast as we would like. Many shops up here don't even stock the DIR equipment, much less teach it. The only answer as I see it is constantly trying to drag the diving public into the mindset even if many of them go kicking and screaming. It is very rewarding when some one tries it and eventually admit it's a better system. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Cobb <cobber@ci*.co*> To: Steve Lindblom <s_lindblom@co*.co*>; Tech Diver <techdiver@aquanaut.com> Date: Wednesday, February 03, 1999 10:49 AM Subject: Re: Helo >Steve- > >Transpac, transpak, whatever, they both suck.
