    ...
To test this out, why not all those who have suffered DCI plse send me a
seven line posting & I will do a quick analysis.

    DCI SURVEY
    --------------------

    Have you suffered DCI?
Were you treated in a chamber?
    Did you tell someone?.
    What was the depth duration?
    What Tables?
    What Mixes?
    What is your nationality?

Rick Williams <RICK515@de*.co*> surveyed the techdiver list in 1993
including the questions:

Have you ever suffered a DCS episode?
If yes was it treated in a chamber

Results were posted on 30 Sep 1993. Of the 35 people who responded by then

	DCS Episode 5 14.29%
	Treated 2 5.71%
	# DCS Episodes 7
	%DCS/DC Dive 0.18%
	%DCS/Tot Dive 0.03%
	%Res/DCS 14.29%

He followed up on 4 Oct 1993 after getting a total of 42 responses with

	Incidence of DCS

11.90% of the respondents indicated having suffered a DCS hit
with a total of 7 episodes in five individuals. Only 4.76%
	(2) received treatment in a chamber. There appeared to be no
correlation between DCS incidence and other answers excepts
	that all were experienced divers.

Based on the number of decompression dives there were 0.16%
incidence of DCS with decompression dives and a 0.03% incidence
	with all dives.

based on

	Total Dives:

Since diving experience is exposure based, the respondents are an
experienced group. The forty two respondents reported 22,818 dives!
	11.90% had less than 100, 33.33% had 100-250, 28.57% have logged
251-500 dives, 14.29% have between 501-1000 dives, 9.52% of the
respondents have between 1001-2500 dives, 0% answered 2500-5000 and
one person had over 5000 dives or an estimate 5400-5600!

I guess Rick's survey postings are out there in the techdiver archives.

Rick's survey wouldn't reveal all the information Richard wants, but it might
add some fuel to this DCI debate while Richard's survey results roll in.
