I have heard from several different sources that there have been rumours flying
around at DEMA, on the Techdiver List (& also in Sweden for some reason) about
2 further fatalities on a rebreather, possibly an Inspiration. As far as I am
aware these are completely untrue & I am curious to know where they originated.
Almost all of the Inspiration units (somewhere between 200-300 by now I would
guess) have been sold in the UK/Europe & it's inconcievable that we could lose
2 divers here without anyone knowing 'who, where, when, how' etc. If nothing
else, it would be in the newspapers the very next day. There are also not so
many units overseas that we wouldn't have heard some news PDQ.
I would guess that someone not 'in the loop' read of old incidents from 1998 in
the German website discussed here last week & then started putting these about
as "news". If so, this is not very helpful.
In fact virtually every owner of an Inspiration subscribes to our own private
Inspiration List, which is very active. We discuss issues of particular
relevance to our units, organise trips together etc and news passes around
between us all very quickly. It is hard to imagine something happening as has
been rumoured & that *none* of us would know anything about it !
If anyone has any *hard information* then by all means come forwards & say
so...but circulating untrue rumours does no one any good & is very hard to put
an end to (as Drager know...!)
