Good question - most of the industrial supply houses, if you buy viton
O-rings, supply them in 65-75 duro, which is too soft for a neck O-ring.

There are also a lot of lousy, cheap imported O-rings around, and (to judge
by some of the posts heree) even some dive professionals don't seem to
understand that there are differences. So even a dive shop O-ring may be
deficient.
