Kevin, How well is a boat crew going to be able to spot your location on the surface with the 30lb bag if a little wind picks up making the surface choppy? Personaly I feel that a 30lb bag is way to small. I prefer a 100lb minimum for visual referencing even in the timid seas of So Cal. John > 30 pounds is plenty enough.
