Sean,

I too have seen the morons do dives on the Hydro. There are 7th and 8th
generation tech instructors all over the place. But they are far from
Serious players. One simple way to stop the madness is to ask that goober
before he jumps in the ocean on that free drifting dive with a spear gun in
his hand. "Why are you doing this?" Just let them defend their position.
And questions like. "So your gonna do what a 20 minute dive, that's a good
time on this wreck." Lead by example. It takes time. Everyone was a
stroke at one time or another. One has to be its part of the evolution.

I trained a wonderful gal in a wreck diving course about 3 years ago. She
was giventhe list of gear, and she took her Amex card and got exactly what
she needed. We spent a good part of a full day getting her rigged up and
she was doing it. After the wrefk diving she went down to Florida and took
some cave training - she fell in love with the caves quicky because she was
geared up right to begin with. However over a few months she said "my gear
was next to perfect but I need to try out what does not work so I know why
this is the "best" way to do it." This was an interesting approach but at
least she decided to do that testing on benign shallow dives. She truly
understood the concept of evolution.

As to the strokedom of your instructors down there. I am sure we can get
you a list of quality instructors who you can turn people on to. The list
is pretty short, but I am sure they can all take in one or two more
students a week to their next class.

enjoy
