Look again at the falsification of the "bottom time" from the recent W2 propaganda: at even a high 1.4 set ( too high for that time ) the decompression starts at 240 at takes a few hours to get to 80 still running 1.4 all the way up. That is my deco. Most people would do a lot more. Now consider the dive to be an hour bottom time, maybe fudge it out to 75 or 80 and use a little less depth - then the deco looks right. If I were to count all of my time from the surface back to 160 as "bottom time", my biggest bottom time is NINE hours . If I then took 25 minutes to get to the real bottom, like these guys do, my bottom time approaches TEN hours. For us real bottom time is used to calculate deco and calculate the requirements of executing the dive, not to sell rebreathers. With the Halcyon rebreather, bottom time means nothing, since there are no electronics to fail. We put in larger scrubbers for longer dives, that is all, and only because unlike the W2 weenies, we decompress on the Halcyon as well, so it has to last longer, hence the bigger scrubber. Also unlike those big timers, we can not only get out of the cave on open circuit and know it from doing it on open circuit, we can make the whole deco on open circuit, and very little of it at that. To take a supposed "three hours" to execute a 30 minute dive is bull, to tell these kids to stay down three hours to prove something unnecesarily is irresponsible. To put line in Sheck Exley's rooms and then name then is typical of these guys - complete weenies. Let them put line in some of mine three miles out and name them. The names would be more like the R.I.P Room. Gavin got the EX 19 to go 18 hours one time. Maybe that means we should use that rebreather to drive home with . Maybe we should tape wings to our asses and try to jump out the window. Let's see here: Stone has everyone sign a contract of silence, and then he edits everything that gets put out - sure , I believe him. Since I have spent years in that cave and know what it what there, I can see the baloney a mile away. By the way, where is the "mapper" - when is that going to ever get deployed? Since we know the cave, and know how long it tkaes to get from point to point, and since these guys can not even stay consistent in their lies. For instance, they take 25 minutes to travel 400 feet into the cave, another hour to travel the next 2000 feet in dark water where there is nothign to see, they take forever to negotiate the entire 800 feet of D Tunnel, and yet they can "lay" 400 meters of line and get back out of that shallower water all in five minutes - so they go from 30 feet per minute to 400 feet per minute. The they lie about he flow in D - there is zero flow. It is a dead tunnel - just like C Tunnel. Sure, we believe them. The they do deco up to the bell for a one hour dive, but put out a graph of a two hour dive, and call it a three hour dive. This is an obvious farce. Somebody plese buy some Cis Lunar rebreathers so we can get this over with. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
