Makes it MUCH easier to reach. (and it does not bump into my head, like you might expect/fear). Have not done any dry suit diving so I cannot comment on the arm restrictions, but I could not reach my valves, I would make it somehow so I could (perhaps simpler said than done). As for upside-down mounting, I have worn a 30 cu. ft. pony upside down along-side a single-95. The valve was very easy to reach, but gee, you usually (on a dive boat)set your tanks down from your back, so, I did not want to be resting on my first stages... Of course Dive-Rite (and presumably others) sell the valve cages/guards that you could attach....
