You know what John. I am sick and tired of blow-hards like you taking a bit's and pieces of a proven SYSTEM and then declaring yourself a superdeduper DIR diver. You either follow the system or you don't. If you don't, who cares? I got some news for you buddy, NOBODY FUCKING CARES. It's your ass and if you want a convoluted equipment setup, go for it. But don't take a SYSTEM, criticize it with the stupid statements you typed below, and walk around huffing and puffing like an asshole. In short, as far as DIR is concerned, you don't know what in the hell you are talking about. Sender: John Walker Date: 11/19/98 1:17 AM > You know what Greg. The Hogartian concept has been around for a very >long time. George has just brought it back to the attention of OUR >COMMUNITY. It works well for me also but his way is not the only way to >dive. FOR EXAMPLE: I think that he is wrong in saying that the WKPP >stage bottle configuration is the only way to dive. It's not the only way, dude, its the best way. If you can justify metal-to-metal rings, d-rings and clips, I am waiting. We all are waiting to hear this. > Yes it may be a wonderful way to configure cylinders while tow >scootering and yes most seasoned teachies using the proper cylinders >should have no problem carrying all stages on one side but the "interie >to technical stage diver" might (will) find this uncomfortable as well >as more confusing than left to right configuring. Remember that not all >technical diver carry a canister light on their right hip to counter >balance their cylinders Yes, no doubt about it, there are easily confused divers who should not be in the sport. BTW, where do you suggest to put the light canister where you can remove it if you have to and have a minimum cord length which you can easily trace back to the source, hmmmmm? And keep in mind that most can't use your system as we don't have your level of spincter muscle control. > Also the WKPP way of cylinder marking may be fine for many of us, but >it does not reason well with others, aspecially the "interie technical >divers" unless they can afford a cylinder for every MOD they may choose >to dive with. Or the retail industry, unless they can sell them >multiple cylinders for every MOD they may have. Cylinder content >stickers have a proper place in OUR sport and there is nothing >convoluted about them. There is valuble information on them, ie MOD, >PO2, Blender and Date of fill. This concept was brought to OUR >recreational diving community through a government agency via Mr. >Rutkowski. As for your dive buddy being abile to see what gas you are >on, hmmm, well maybe you should cover that in your S drills if wearing >left to right configuration ( Not that I think the BIG stenciled 3 " MOD >letters are dumb but they don't appear to be practical for the industry) >or maybe the industry can adapt and make BIGGER stickers with a BIGGER >area to write BIG MOD numbers. But yet George would probly have a boner >over that to. This paragraph is as convoluted as your gear config and illustrates to all to what extent you don't know shit from shinola. I don't know how many times I have seen written in this forum and other places that a piece of duct tape with the proper MOD markings is perfectly acceptable. And nowhere in DIR does it avocate to keep the analysis secret. But I must add that it behooves the diver to dedicate his deco cylinders to a particular mix simply to eliminate one more area for clusterfucks. As expensive as this sport is, I really don't see how.$150 for a DIN stage makes the slightest bit of difference, this is chump change, you stupid cheap bastard. As for the rest of the paragraph, it makes me wonder if you even actually dive. It is blindered assholes like you who haven't even bothered to take 5 min's of your precious time to do the slightest bit of research into DIR before you come on to this list and make a complete fool of yourself. > As far as George or his puppets calling anyone names, fuc'm all, its >OUR sport (hobby). > > John This is really funny. Everybody I know who has taken up DIR at first did not like it because of stupid morons like you teaching "old school" foolery. But once the system is explained the logic is overwhelming and if you have an IQ higher than your shoe size, the light bulb will come on. DIR divers are for the most part converts from the old, dangerous convoluted shit morons like you espouse. Thats the strongest point I can make about DIR. So go ahead and dive your fucked up system, John, just spare us from your scuba equivalent of "penis envy" and shut the hell up.
