You know what Greg. The Hogartian concept has been around for a very
long time. George has just brought it back to the attention of OUR
COMMUNITY. It works well for me also but his way is not the only way to
dive. FOR EXAMPLE: I think that he is wrong in saying that the WKPP
stage bottle configuration is the only way to dive.
Yes it may be a wonderful way to configure cylinders while tow
scootering and yes most seasoned teachies using the proper cylinders
should have no problem carrying all stages on one side but the "interie
to technical stage diver" might (will) find this uncomfortable as well
as more confusing than left to right configuring. Remember that not all
technical diver carry a canister light on their right hip to counter
balance their cylinders.
Also the WKPP way of cylinder marking may be fine for many of us, but
it does not reason well with others, aspecially the "interie technical
divers" unless they can afford a cylinder for every MOD they may choose
to dive with. Or the retail industry, unless they can sell them
multiple cylinders for every MOD they may have. Cylinder content
stickers have a proper place in OUR sport and there is nothing
convoluted about them. There is valuble information on them, ie MOD,
PO2, Blender and Date of fill. This concept was brought to OUR
recreational diving community through a government agency via Mr.
Rutkowski. As for your dive buddy being abile to see what gas you are
on, hmmm, well maybe you should cover that in your S drills if wearing
left to right configuration ( Not that I think the BIG stenciled 3 " MOD
letters are dumb but they don't appear to be practical for the industry)
or maybe the industry can adapt and make BIGGER stickers with a BIGGER
area to write BIG MOD numbers. But yet George would probly have a boner
over that to.
As far as George or his puppets calling anyone names, fuc'm all, its
OUR sport (hobby).
