November 10th in history: 1797: Birth of William Hogarth, English painter and satirist, setting in motion the chain of events that ultimately led to the Hogarthian system of cave diving (by his later namesake, William Hogarth Main), and later the DIR system. 1975: Loss of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior. One of the world's deepest trimix divesites. According to the news this morning, another major storm is coming through the Great Lakes to mark the anniversary. 100 km/h winds are forecast down at this end of the lakes. The toughest of tough divers will be marking the anniversary of the founding of the US Marine Corps (1775), while divers at the opposite end of that spectrum will be marking the anniversary of the first episode of the children's television series Sesame Street (1969). And for me, well, I'll still be alive tomorrow if I remember my wife's birthday today. :-) -- Anthony DeBoer <adb@on*.ca*> -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
