BMR500 Closed Circuit Rebreather for Sale I've decided to sell my BMR500 and know that I'll take a loss. Here's the story. I bought the unit very early in the game, sight unseen, put my $2,000.00 down and waited and waited and waited. Got tired of waiting as many of you know and so I bought a CCR1000 out of Canada. Then the 500 arrived. The original units had various problems and it went back to BMR for almost a year waiting for repairs. I was in no hurry as I had the CCR1000. I upgraded the unit to the new connectors at that time and the new electronics etc. That was another $1100.00 bringing my investment up to $6,1000.00. When I got it back, I wasn't completely pleased with the modifications so sent it to Tracy Robinette for further changes, modifications and upgrades. Here's what's been done, the cost etc. 1. Original Unit: $5,000.00 2. Upgrades at BMR (new backlighted LCD PPO2 display, new electronics and POD and cables) $1,100.00 3. 2 extra cylinders and valves: $550.00 4. Extra cannister: $50.00 5. Plumbed for external diluent with Whitey valve (for mixed gas); 3/16" plumbing on diluent side; plumbed to shoulder block for drysuit inflation and BC inflation as well as bailout regulator 6. All cables replaced with true underwater cabling and all parts (Battery Pod, electronics, secondary display etc.) using Bulkhead cabling fittings so leaks can't travel down and into the parts inside the cabling (Cables and connectors alone cost $750.00). New Battery POD and electronics housing much like a MK16/Mk15 able to use the MK15/16 battery or the smaller 500 battery. Total cost for this was: $2,250.00 7. Backplate (with spot for bailout bottle) and BC (sonoform) (Mark Thurlow's designed stuff) $750.00 8. New large bore solid DSV by Tracy Robinette: Cost: $550.00 9. I also have extra moisture absorbers and a few other spare parts (extra sensor etc.) Total Investment: $10,200.00 I have a digital camera and can take and send pictures to anyone who wants them either to see what they want to do to their 500 or if interested in buying mine. As you can see, I've got about $10,000 plus invested. I just don't need this machine and my CCR1000 and an identical MK15. The machine is now a solid piece of gear. I would have kept it, but decided to get one of the Mk15's so that I'd have two identical machines instead of having to keep sensors, parts etc. for two different machines. I will consider some big ticket items in trade or partial trade. I'd still like a Predator or Farallon DPV or a good Mag or sidescan sonar unit to use off my 25 ft. Farallon boat here in the Channel Islands. Make me an offer by e-mail or give me a call if interested. Harold H.
