It would be much easier and cheaper for you to just hold your breath
underwater until you pass out from hypoxia and drown. Then the $5000 can
be used to throw one hell of a wake for your buddies and you can use the
rest to bribe St. Peter for entrance to the first class lounge.

>Hal,
>
>I have always been jealous that you have more and more toys than anyone I
>know and am glad to hear that you are willing to trade something for your
>rebreather.
>
>Here is what I propose: I have two dogs, three cats, a pet coon and a
>slightly used walker (used by a little old lady) The old dog is worth
>about $500 and the young dog is worth $2500, both are field trained and
>registered Labrador Retrievers. The cats were raised with love and
>affection since they were kittens and although they do NOTHING at all
>during the day except eat, at night they either sleep on your bed or catch
>mice, gophers, moles and shrews and bring them into the bedroom to play
>with which usually interrupts your sleep. As good as they are at catching
>mice, they are worth no less than $2000 each. The pet coon is only 11
>weeks old but fun for the whole family, keeps you entertained and busy
>cleaning up the mess he creates, he is by the way as cute as a bugs ear.
>I think he is worth every bit of $2500 since it isn't everyone who has a
>pet coon named Leroy. The walker is valuable in that I have installed
>hooks that can be used to support your dive gear in the event your back
>ever gives you problems and you need to transport your dive gear to the
>boat. It was seldom used by an aged aunt who died and I got it with low
>miles and new tennis balls on the non wheel legs. I estimate its value at
>$20 unless you need one, then the value goes way up. By the way, the dogs
>are well trained and will not run across Main Street if they get out of
>the car in front of the dive shop. In all, I believe I have $11,520 in
>trading material and what I think would be fair is your rebreather in
>trade for my pets and walker but so that you don't take unfair advantage
>of me, you should throw in $500 in cash and 20 trips on your boat at my
>convenience. Please consider this offer, I have people interested in the
>cats and the coon but they want to pay cash and I promised my wife that I
>wouldn't "buy" anymore dive gear for a while.
>
>I will be down to So Cal next Thursday evening for the beginning of
>lobster season so let me know soon. The coon and dogs travel well but I
>will have to sedate the cats to get them to you if your answer is: "It's
>a trade".

>I've decided to sell my BMR500 and know that I'll take a loss. Here's the

>many of you know and so I bought a CCR1000 out of Canada. Then the 500

>what's been done, the cost etc.
>
>1. Original Unit: $5,000.00
>2. Upgrades at BMR (new backlighted LCD PPO2 display, new electronics and
>POD and cables)	$1,100.00
>3. 2 extra cylinders and valves: $550.00
>4. Extra cannister: $50.00
>5. Plumbed for external diluent with Whitey valve (for mixed gas); 3/16"
>plumbing on diluent side; plumbed to shoulder block for drysuit inflation
>and BC inflation as well as bailout regulator
>6. All cables replaced with true underwater cabling and all parts (Battery
>Pod, electronics, secondary display etc.) using Bulkhead cabling fittings so
>leaks can't travel down and into the parts inside the cabling (Cables and
>connectors alone cost $750.00). New Battery POD and electronics housing much
>like a MK16/Mk15 able to use the MK15/16 battery or the smaller 500 battery.
>Total cost for this was: $2,250.00
>7. Backplate (with spot for bailout bottle) and BC (sonoform) (Mark
>Thurlow's designed stuff) $750.00
>8. New large bore solid DSV by Tracy Robinette: Cost: $550.00
>9. I also have extra moisture absorbers and a few other spare parts (extra
>sensor etc.)
>
>Total Investment: $10,200.00

>As you can see, I've got about $10,000 plus invested. I just don't need
