It becomes difficult to maintain tec content when a solid 80% of this
list is committed to insitutionalized stupidity , ie , are dive
instructors , manufacturers, or facilities.
Deep air is a cash cow: students are charged a fortune to do
something that requires no investment by the instructor or facility.
Shit gear, like convoluted "tec" bc's, which are anything but "tec",
bondage wings, computers, bullshit lighting systems, and other trinkets
and shibloliths of the stroke are high profit items for dive instructors
and facilities. This is further exacerbated by the fact that the more
ridiculous the item , like bondage wings, the more "dealers" there are ,
as these types of things require no capital investment by the purveyors,
and everyone is a dealer, as if this were suntan oil or fin straps.
Overnight wonder instructors, who themselves have never done a real
dive in their lives, domninate the landscape.
Take this Todd Ives stroke for instance: he shows up in Ft Lauderdale
to teach "tec" having no clue what he is doing and no genuine experience
outside of the usual list of boat monkee credentials idiosyncratic to
dive insturctors who do all of their dives in classes.
He has the butt mounted sqaure light ( which has been long ago
dicontinued by Dive Rite), the extra long hose stuffed in the bondage
wings, among other farm animal stupid nonsense, and wants to take
"students" deep air diving on the Lowrance. The students have 104
Pressed Steel tanks with wetsuits.
We have had four deaths down here this year in classes involving
overwieghting of students and bondage wings doing deep dives in the Gulf
Stream. Lawsuits have already been filed. We don't want to get sued for
killing people.
This guy Ives shows up wanting to do the same thing only worse - on
deep air.
The first time he showed up , Errol tried to straighten him out, and
he promised to go through a class to bring him up to date. The second
time he showed up , telling us all he knew better than us, we threw his
stupid ass out. Obviously , Errol will not run dumb ass trips like this.
The reason Ives came to Lauderdale is that nobody in his home town,
West Palm Beach, will take trips out to do this anymore due to the fine
track records amassed by the brilliant dive instructors up there and
down here. Nobody down here but Ocean Diving and Tec Solutions will run
these trips of any kind. It used to be SOP in Lauderdale to tec dive.
If you are coming to Lauderdale and want to do something stupid,
don't call us. If you get past the initial screen, just hope I am not on
the boat, or you will be thrown off personally by me. We do not care
what you think - you have all proven you are so stupid that you will not
be alowed to harm yourselves or anyone else.
When it comes to tec content on this list, if the 80% barnyard would
just come on out and argue puclicly what they are all wispering in
students' ears, we could dispell the crap with solid logic and move on
to real tec diving content. Efforts to dilute or misdirect in an effort
to silence the pros will do nothing but result in no content.
More and more peoiple are finding out the truth about tec diving,
and are learning real methods , mostly from WKPP, GUE and the growing
number of folks who have been influenced by us. Keep in mind that most
of us are giving this away, and we only have a handfull of recognized
paid instrucotors. As that number grows, so will real tec diving.
