Steve:

I bought a copy of the Oxygen Hacker's Companion. I like it! Of course the
book encourages things that will piss off dive shops, but in general it
encourages doing things safely and being honest about what you are doing.
There is not enough information in there for an idiot to accomplish much, so
from a safety point of view, I don't see any real problem.

The only shortcoming that I found (other than just nitpicking), is that in
the description of various gas transfer assemblies, as I recall, not much
information was provided regarding parts like the pipe tees and other pipe
fittings. I could be wrong, I will check the book again. If I am correct and
this information is not clear, readers might purchase 1/4 NTP fittings from
a hardware store, and may well get 150 psi rated water fittings. I have used
such fittings to 2,200 psi, and often the 150 psi rated water fittings are
identical to the 3,000 psi gas fittings, but I believe all would agree that
this would not be a good idea.

I'd like to thank you for busting my chops about not having the book; I had
been planning on buying it for months, and needed a kick in the butt to make
me write the order and check.
Sincerely,
C. Randy Bohrer, President
