Several hours ago I posted an answer to a question somebody asked (he wanted
advice about what size wings to get). I posted an answer, and explained how I
arrived at the conclusion about what size to get when I had to make a decision,
in hope that this would help him to arrive at the correct decision.

I considered sending the message to the guy privately, but it occurred to me
that maybe I went about making my decision the wrong way, and somebody would
point this out (and why it was wrong) and I would learn something.

I got this reply in my inbox (does not appear to have been posted to the list
-- yet):

This guy (as far as I can tell) is not the guy who asked the question. So is it
really his place to complain about the fact that I made a detailed answer?

Was I wrong to post an answer? I have posted an answer or two on this list and
never received this kind of mean response.

Am I wrong to feel somewhat offended? I don't think so. After all, nobody (to
the best of my knowledge) was holding a gun to this guy's head to make him read
my reply. If I begin to read a message on the list that doesn't interest me, I
just skip past it and go on to the next one -- and I don't send the person
email telling them that I don't care what they think.

Every time I want to post a message to the list, should I write the guy above
and make sure it meets his approval first?
