Thanks to everyone who responded to my earlier question regarding the D-rings.

In the hope of helping other newbies out there, I'm posting what I've learned.

My initial problem was that I had trouble clipping things on the shoulder
D-rings.  The solution was to bend the D-rings so that they would stick
out.  I bent them near the base to about 80-90 degress.  This is for a DIR
harness and I never really thought that it would make that much difference,
but I guess I'm wrong.
