List, Can anyone explain the principles involved that make that when you make a dive using heliox 21, and the same dive on Trimix 21/35 to say 50 msw (165 fsw) (gasses chosen arbitrary, only amount of Oxygen remains the same) , you need more deco time on the Heliox dive than on the Trimix dive?. (All else being equal ; bottom time 30 minutes, travel gas Eanx 32, gas switch at 30 msw on descent, max ppO2 1.3, deco gasses EanX32, EanX50.). Or in other words, why does heliox need more deco time than trimix.? Does helium not offgas (and ongas) 2.65 times faster than nitrogen, and is therefore quicker to be eliminated during deco? So, logically, would the deco time not be shorter instead of longer, albeit with slower ascent rates to prevent bubbles forming,? What am I missing here? Just wanting to learn , so no flames please!
