Thanks for all the replies, both private and on the list. Of course I was not planning to fill up a tank with HeliOx and go diving. That was just an eyecatcher. My real answer hinged around the fact where to get the proper education/training/qualification. I was unaware of the fact that most Trimix courses include Heliox (there is no mention of it in the course descriptions). But you set me straight on that, thanks. I will expand my diving to the 40-50 metre region but do not want to use air, for the obviuos reasons.I also limit my ppO2 to 1.3 and my ppN2 to 4.0, so EanX is out of the question . Heliox looked to be one of the options, hence my question. But, most of you seem to agree that Heliox is: - too expensive for amateur use - not for BT's under 2 hours - excessive deco - really only for commercial purposes. Therefore, the only sensible thing looks to be, as most of you recommended, the use of shallow trimix, after getting the proper qualification and/or training and/or education. This means a trimix course and that is what I will do. In Belgium my option is go to the IANTD. I believe an "intermediate trimix course" will be my thing, the "full trimix" course is not in my league. I have no intention or need of diving deeper than 50 metres (I am already Advanced Eanx).
