I have been using 18/40 for dives where I will not be refilling the
doubles on the boat, or 18/50 for when I plan to get an airtop
on the boat. 18/40 has pretty good range and greatly reduced narcosis.

this mix is good for the range you mentioned.

We just started getting into the Trimix scene...and have hammered out the
following as our initial dive...

We do a 16/50 first mix....yes that is a high HE mix, but, it gives us a
decent Air toppable mix, and the deco we incur as a result of the less then
optimum PO2 has proven to be negligible (2-3minutes at 20'). We use if for
dives in the 200-220 range, and then the air top gives us a decent mix for
the
160-180 range. It also keeps my PO2 w/in some really safe ranges....

This way we also get some good use out of our HE bottles...the idea came
from
a post that G. Irivine had posted.

I have almost gone exclusively to ZPlan...we run the profiles on 2-3
different
programs we have Decom Abyss between my dive buddies. Zplan is simple, and
gives the output in an easy to read, easy to print and laminate format...and
none of us have been bent yet...:-)

Just my .02...I'm sure others have different methods.
