As a matter of fact, there is a difference (albeit perhaps a somewhat subjective one) between artifacts and scrap. A good case in point is copper pipe. This is probably worth salvaging and recycling. Another case in point is the gentleman who claims ownership to the Lusitania (recently run in a different thread) and wants to take all of the prime artifacts (such as portholes, bells, etc.) and wants to melt them down into keychains. This is the other extreme. We should ask the question, what is the intrinsic value of the item? Some of this stuff is scrap metal, and others are real "artifacts". > 2. I checked in the techdiver archives for the techdiver charter. Unfortunately, it appears that one does not exist. Personally, I do not think that this argument has anything to do with "technical diving". I had thought that this forum would be about "the science, technology, and procedures of diving beyond the normal range of recreational scuba", but maybe I was wrong. I do think that the letter by Callum Beveridge about the BROCO gun is "technical", IMO, and I also see that others are enjoying this debate. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying it too, I just don't think it belongs in this forum. I think that we should move the philosophical debate to rec.scuba. I do monitor it, under the net name "Christi873@ao*.co*" - I don't like to do it at work. Does anyone else agree? > Alan > alan@mi*.de*.co*.uk* > Is it true that Christina is an ichthyoligist in her day job? Not even close - I'm a wandering epistemologist. Regards, Christina
