Open water students are often cautioned that if they swim 100 miles
out to sea, it drops off to 500 feet... how's that ?   ;-)

I've seen few quarries where there is not at least a hard to find hole,
if not an easy to find large area where depths are much greater than
OW training standards.

Al, you cannot survive someone else's self-responsibility "antics".
Their "antics" do not affect your dive if you take responsibility
for yourself.  Unless of course you have abdicated your own self-
responsibility to the other person.  This of course is where it boggles 
the mind to hear that someone does not want to be responsible for 
themself and doesn't expect others to be as well.
