Sorry but SNORE! Was Which 2 Rebreathers killed Rich, I may have made some assumptions about the "fitness" of the Wak 2 team, based on descriptions I have heard about those on the team that are known. Perhaps it is only 3 or 4 on the entire team that smoke cigarettes and booze it up. If this is the case, my apologies to the members of the team that have the discipline to avoid this type of behavior. As to the actual fitness "level", for the purposes of diving Wakulla on a major push, "Good Fitness" is NOT relative to the average person aged 20 years old --- good fitness would be relative to George Irvine, or others who train their cardiovascular system at an elite national level. Good shape for a 40 year old is the height of stupidity. You must be in nationally elite condition, with age as irrelevant---as if you were attempting to compete in the next Olympics. Your "bounce dives" have allowed you to get away without any significant fitness training, and perhaps have allowed you to take a myopic view toward WAK 2 requirements. The ordeal of a 2 mile penetration into Wakulla will underline the physiological requirements of a diver on this type of exposure. Please include a list of Wak 2 team members who have reached this level of fitness for a "world class penetration" into Wakulla. If the list is significant, then of course I'll apologize for my earlier comments. If only a handful on the team are fit, then I'd like to suggest to them to rid themselves of the losers who could only hurt their survival chances, if allowed much beyond the entrance of Wakulla. Rich, fitness is measured by VO2 max. For you to reply to me that these guys are really quite fit, is far short of the mark. If Stone has not had them VO2 max tested, he has just created another stupidity near equal to waiting this long to teach them rebreather use, or to buy them drysuits.
