Subject: Re: Deep air dive...JUST SAY NO!
Sorry to tell you this, but Mat (IMHO) has a valid point. It is Dan that is
out to lunch. Dan would give us all crayons because we could possibly hurt
ourselves with pencils.

No dive can be made if the potential potential potential potential (et.
nauseum) bottom exceeds a PO2 of 1.4 - thus spoketh Dan Volker.

So .. to use a real world example (at least real to me where I dive), no one
other than trained Trimix divers should dive at Mukilteo (Seattle,
Washington area) because the slope descends on down to 500 ft - well below
any recreational air/nitrox po2 level. Students diving to 60 feet might
accidently decide to go down to 500 feet and we must do weverythin in our
power ti prevent that from happening.

Give it up.

The position and the arugment taken by Dan assumes that all divers are
stupid and incapable of acting as reasonable rational human beings.. Dan, in
his infinite but minescule wisdon, wants to dictate what all divers can and
cannot do. That is, frankly, taking DIR to extremes. It is a dictatorship
mentatlity - "only I can decide what you can or cannot do".

Actually, a nice position. The requirement do dive mix beyond 80 feet
eliminates 99.999999995% of the divers in the Seattle area and, as a
consequence, I will not be bothered being around dumb, stupid, open water
diver - who can only damage themselves in their stupidity.

Talk about arrogance. Talk about stupidity.

I would sooner trust divers than regulate what they can or cannot do.

Dan: We are willing to put up with George because there is experience
behind the mouth that roaredand if we can get past the diatribes, there are
occasional words of wisdom in but what makes you God (besides being a
self-proclaimed world class athlete). You have contributed very little
positive to our knowledge and often most of what you "publish" is wrong.
