Cobb writes: >These unit (PATCO AquaHeat) are for recreational diving only. My fins, my wet suit, my weight belt, my mask, my regs, and my tanks were only made for recreational diving -- but that doesn't mean they can be used for rec diving only. They work very well for other kinds of diving. Ingemar, who asked for potential leads/ideas for additional thermal protection (and did not ask to have his mind made up for him), seems to be enough of a diver to evaluate a product for himself and work with a manuf. to make something that might help him if the original product, as it is now, turns out to be inadequate. The suggested hot water systems, brought up in other posts, were developed for commercial diving only, as were comercial diving deco methods. Does that mean they should be dismissed outright -- or should the conscientious diver consider ways to adapt concepts/equipment from one kind of diving (or another disciplne altogether) which may enhance comfort/safety for another kind of diving? That's the kind of exploring Ingemar's thread was attempting to do. Seems to me that's how diving (and many other activities/disciplines) will progress. Uninformed close-mindedness (cotton in) and prejudiced dismissal of possibilities is counter-productive. Christopher A.
