Read the posts. You act like you never >read the posts. Here, heres one: >>Why add something to a wing that is: >>A. Not needed. >>B. If used wrong, can in fact be dangerous. (Bungees too tight) >>C. Causes more drag, then if used w/o it. >>D. Can cuase snags, catch line, cable etc. >>E. Has more failure points...two inflator hoses, two lp connections. >>F. Cost's a BUNCH more. >>G. Have inflators that are being recalled... Well, it's too bad you couldn't come up with A thru G on your own Jim. First, I would like to thank John Brett, RMC, Sean Cary, Sean Stevenson and Carlos Accioly for their input. They responded in clear, well thought out posts with no mud slinging or name calling. And guess what? It's given me some things to take back into the water and test. I want to see for myself. I haven't had any of the problems I've read about here but at last, I see some clear indications of what to look for. Still not much in the way of difference with my wings and others. After all, I only have a single bladder OMS so only one inflator, one hose etc and I seem to have what may be more lift than needed. Add to that I do have the bungees and I will be putting them thru more evaluation but at least now I have additional info that I didn't have before. Believe me, I enjoy life. I don't want to be a statistic. If I find anything in my gear that clearly has the potential of causing me harm with the type of diving I do, that gear is gone and gone fast. Look Jim. FYI, I am not a shill for OMS. Wouldn't know any of their employees if I passed them on the street. Neither am I deaf, dumb or blind. Couldn't do my job if I were. Nor could I do my job if I were openly antagonistic or closed minded. And I live in a very much "real world" as opposed to fantasy. 200 posts by 50 people (4 posts each). How many of those 50 ever tried the OMS? Would be nice to know but no longer relevant info for me. Thanks to those named above, I am equipped with more info that was presented with a better attitude. The message has more of a chance of getting thru. And, I'm going to try and duplicate (in a safe and controlled fashion) each of the points that have been validly raised. Perhaps some of the problems are training related? or QC issues? or even design flaws. Training issues are not valid ones to dump a piece of gear. After all, if one doesn't train with their gear, perhaps one should consider a different sport. I practice constantly with my life support equipment both for work and for diving. Poor QC is. Design flaws are unless the flaw is easily and safely corrected at much less expense than replacing and the correction cures the danger of the flaw. What do I know that others don't? Lots in some fields, lots less in lots of other fields. I am clearly tho, NOT an expert.Never professed to be. I'm simply someone who wants to learn more but needs info to make decisions. Real info as opposed to wild comments or statements made with out substance to back them up. Call me what you will. In the grand scheme of life, it matters not much.
