yes you all are right. Anyone can buy all the right DIR gear and read some of the ideals, and yet this does not make them a real DIR diver. you can even find a way to get some of the restricted gear. you are still not DIR complient. The most important two pieces of gear can not be bought. No need to panic though, becouse you can aquire, for free, these last items needed to really becoume DIR complient. they are 1 yourself 2 your buddy as for yourself you need to seek out and practice the best training - DIR. as for your buddy this is the piece of gear you have chosen to safe your butt, treat it with the proper respect. ie is your buddy DIR complient??? remember DIR complience is not owning a bunch of cool gear, it is a mind set. also remember training never stops.
