Robert Laird asks:
"Darkness Beckons" ... Molephone ... what is it ....

This may be somewhat innacurate:

The Molephone is a device used mainly for cave to surface links.
It is electromagnetic, and gets through rock using large coils
as antennae. It is generally used for dry work, because of its
size. It can be used underwater, the filmed Keald(?) head dive
used one. They cost somewhere in the region of 3 grand(?) and
are available from:

Lancaster University centre for technology transfer.

I'm not sure it would be good for wrecks, as it was designed to
transmit through limestone, not metal hulls+seawater, which
presents a different set of problems for transmission.
I have tried to get info from Lancaster, but they haven't replied
as yet. If anyone knows more I'd be keen to hear myself.

Derek.
