I tried several sets of Force Fins over the weekend, the standard, softest, model, and the pro model, which are slightly stiffer, but not as stiff as the tan delta model. I loved them. They are, as claimed, very low effort and very fast. I particularly liked the size of them: you can turn your foot in the water, and change direction easily, because the blades are so small. It is a different kick, and it takes a bit to find what makes them go. When you do, you know it. They hold your foot by a thick band of plastic that goes across the top of your foot up near the ankle; this helps make you use your quadriceps and not your calf muscles, since power does not come from your toes. Soemthing about this makes them stay on well, even when you forget to use the straps. Surprising, but true. The straps are also nice: a nylon strap through a standard buckle, so you can pull them tight really easily, unlike rubber fin straps with notches. I was pretty happy with the pros, but then I tried the soft ones to tow a buddy, both of us in full gear. They broke down and flexed much too easily. Part of the magic with these fins is the flex and snap; I suspect that there is a certain power area you want to be in, and for some applications, the stiff ones may be too stiff just as the soft ones can be too soft. I wish I tried the pros for the tow; I may still. I hate the price of the tan deltas, but I do like these fins. If the pros can't handle a tow, I'll get the deltas. #----------------------------------------------------# Roger Carlson H 310-frogger Somewhere off Hermosa Beach, CA W 310-376-4437 Roger_Carlson@at*.sp*.tr*.co* F 310-812-1363 #----------------------------------------------------#
