Zero, In a calm and rational manner lets revisit Richard's death and what I know about Richard's diving habits. Richard's gas, taking worst case numbers, was 19/30 trimix. Although hotter than I would recommend for the dive it was not excessively so. In round numbers the PPO2 was 1.4 and the END just over 130'. There was no sign of panic and no indication that his stage bottles were charged (both pressure gauges read 0 psi and the valves were off). Later inspection showed both stage bottles contained an appropriate amount of gas for the anticipated deco. The Ean 36% was charged to 3000 psi and his O2/Ean80, I was unable to determine the contents but belive it was 80 based on personal knowledge of Richard and his habits, was charged to 2200 psi. I did not feel the need to press for the analyses of the deco tanks in this case because the contents appear to have no bearing in this incident. No gear was out of place or disturbed in any indicating convulsion. The reg was in his mouth and the bite tabs were not damaged in a manner suggesting convolution. For these reasons I feel comfortable ruling out convolution. That does not mean that it could not have happened. I also feel that although still passable without convolutions Oxtox could be ruled out. I know that it is possible to tox and not convulse it is also very rare. CO2 retention would also cause the onset of Oxtox long before causing one to black out as a sole reason for this incident so that too was ruled out. Now enter the Dramamine..... My choosing of the word "appears" was not accidental or without cause. I still do not have hard proof that Richard did take Dramamine before the dive. I also have no creditable evidence that he did not. However, adding the information, that Richard apparently took Dramamine, into the mix we get a reasonable explanation as to what could have happened. By using a drug that warns against taking with sedatives and diving to and END of approximately 130' I don't feel it is great stretch to conclude that Richard could well have passed out, "fallen asleep", as a result or mixing a drug (Dramamine) and a sedative (hyperbaric Nitrogen). This was and at this time still is my conclusion based on the information I, and others in my behalf, gathered. If you disagree or have other conclusions based on facts that you have gathered I would be interested in hearing them. If you have other facts please provide the source. I don't want a bunch of rumors and guesses without factual basis cluttering my mailbox. The Dramamine debate will continue under a different topic (but not for long).
