Well for one reason, if you are filling Nitrox (by partial pressure blending) at any of the dive shops in my area, they won't fill if you don't have a Viton o-ring (and the magic sticker) as evidence of O2 clean tanks. As we all know, nitrile is guaranteed to explode immediately in the presence of pure oxygen, just like all those cars in Hollywood that explode every time they run into a fruit cart. >Why on earth would one use a viton O-ring in this location?
