Hellow everyone. I seem to have been cut off from opal.com for about a month, recieving mail from techdiver but being unable to send. I believe everbody in Australia has been in the same situation, as all that I have contacted have said the same thing and I have noticed no mail on the list originating from au. Today a ping to opal.com finally got through so I am going to send an old message that was returned as a test. > >Ronnie Bell <rbell@cp*.or*> wrote: > >> ... In the cave diving community in Australia, cylinder valves are opened completely (not back 1/4 turn), this has been taught as long as I can remember. Secondly, leaving your air off until you get in the water or have kitted up is a bad practice. In caving, it allows the possibility that you to set off into a restriction having forgotten to turn the cylinders on, if you have charged the lines previously you run out of air in about three breaths, enough time to get youself into a nasty situation. Similarly it would not be nice to enter open water from a boat without your air on, particularly if the water conditions were poor. regards, David Doolette ddoolett@me*.ad*.ed*.au*
