Let me expand on the last post about wreck lights.

From my experience most wreck divers seem to like integrated lights, i.e.
Pelicans, Pricetons, etc. I think these really suck big time and you are
not getting the most out of your wreck diving using one of these.

The problem with integrated lights is physical size. By the time you get
a decent bulb in one of these (a 35 watt bulb is the absolute minimum,
the more light the merrier, I use a 50 watt) they get too huge and
awkward to support the amp-hour battery to keep them going for a
reasonable amount of time.

For those who doubt this, please try one before you flame, I gar-on-tee
you will never go back to your limp, lame 14w light ever again.

Using a 14 amp-hour battery cannister light you can comfortably use a 50
watt bulb for up to 3 ocean dives without recharging. Or get a 7 and
carry a spare battery. The battery is on your belt and a cord leads up to
a small, lightweight bulb/reflector assembly which is focusable (a huge
advantage over most integrated lights).

Which ones to buy? Well, the AUL 14 is now selling for $335 at the
aforementioned web site. It is a solid light, mine has been in service
for 2 years now. The drawback to this unit is the acrylic cannister does
not like impacts with aluminum boat decks. They will shatter like an egg
if hit hard enough.

There is also an improved version of the AUL 14 which features an battery
connection which takes place when you snap the lid down rather than via a
trailer plug for $365.

But if you have the bucks, the ultimate light of this kind is the Extreme
Exposure Explorer Pro for $569. This unit has a virtually indestructible
HDP cannister and is beautifully made.

If you think this is a lot of money, the ScubaPro integrated 35w aluminum
light go's for $995. I can't imagine getting one of these with the above
2 choices.
