I have never understood why you should abort your dive when you cant find
your buddy. Seems to me you should Charle Mike and hope you bump into
them. If they are on the surface, well great, the folks on the boat will
deal with it.

This is not how you *should* act, this is how people *are acting* (as
I've seen on numerous occasions).

Oh, come on. How many people out there have been dressed down by the
resident "dive master" after he or she has determined that you did not
follow "the rules"? I had the misfortune one time of being buddied up
with the "dive master". After decending to the bottom of the anchor line,
he stuck his face in mine and started screaming through his regulator at
me. I had no idea what the idiot was yelling about. He then stormed off
and I spent the whole dive finning madly away as he looked for lobsters.
Once back on the boat he proceeded to ream me out screaming that I
descended too fast. I mean his eyes were bulging, spit was spraying as he
screamed at me, calling me an idiot. I remember thinking "and he expects
a tip?". I think his main problem was that I descended before His
Highness and that set him off. It seems that many "dive masters" have
this napoleon complex I came to find out over the years.

Consider it an honor to get flamed, Tim, I sure do...
