Jeffrey,,, Even though computers have a tendency to make you NOT plan your dives, which, of course, is bad, there is no denying their comfort. And as you cannot get computers for trimix (except the VERY expensive Dark Star [or something like that - I can't remember if that is what it's called]), so you may just as well practise using bottom timers and executing your dive plan to the second/feet. I do, however, have a computer similar to the Zeagle Status 2. It is manufactured by Benemec in Finland they make computers for many companies: Polarsafety, Ocean Reef, Mares, Undersea, etc. It has 2 nitrox gas mixtures and a MOD of 210 feet (and it won't function deeper than this: NO [really] deep air!). I use it for recreational, shallow, type dives. I bought this because: - much better reliability than Cochran - a great deal less expensive and less conservative than the Dive Rite and who needs 3 nitrox mixes anyway? - actually more features than the NiTek3 - though there is no 'guage mode', so you NEED a bottom timer. Its bad points: the case/housing seems less reliable than optimal and the 'tap mechanism' is a bit of a pain with heavy mitts on. Summing up: For 'real' diving: bottom times and hard tables (PC generated) Fooling around rec diving: Zeagle type computer -- Hilsen (Regards), Peter Fjelsten - "The Original TechnoDiver..." __________________________________________________ TekDykningsWeb (Tech/DK): http://welcome.to/pf -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
