The usual crowd is preoccupied with G Irvine. Here is the story. GUE is not George or WKPP, it is Jarrod Jablonski. Jarrod is also an IANTD instructor, and was a TDI instructor. In an argument over deep air and methods back in early '97, Gilliam went postal over George's comments on this list, and started a battle to shut him up that pushed Jarrod to start his own agency, as the "final straw". Jarrod was frustrated with all agencies, and found that even the one he ran , NACD, as Training Director, was not what he envisioned for the sport. GUE is not a commerical success like IANTD or TDI, NAUI, PADI, etc. It is an addition to your options for certain types of dive training. It is not intended to replace any other agency - it fills a void in my opinion. In fact, I would bet the Gilliam and Mount would both concur with this.TDI and IANTD have thousands of instructors. I have no idea how many GUE has - I am not one of them. I am in fact all PADI through Divemaster, ANDI for gas, IANTD for Supervisor ratings with Mount as my certifier, I was a TDI Mix instructor until Gilliam booted me for discussing Rob Palmer's death in an unflattering fashion, and I am currently enrolled in a NAUI OW instructor course with Larry Coyne as my instructor. I went through the PADI course but never did the IE. I have no intention of ever teaching diving to anyone. I am not involved in any lawsuits with Gilliam or anyone else. He is not suing me, I am not suing him. He can write whatever he wants in his magazine - I can not show any damages to sue him for, and I do not care anyway. I guess I could try to sue him for not liking me, or for the inaccuracies , but where is the damage? There is none. My thinking about him is equally inactionable, as is my thinking about Mount. So what. He did try to disrupt our project by writing to anyone and everyone he could, but it had no effect. As you all can see I still dive wherever and whenever I want and will do so as long as there is water. You can not beat my reality with a stick , a magazine, or a techdiver list. I can tell you all this. Somebody faked me on "hotmail" and sent this around to our sponsors, my boss, and to others. This I am suing the service provider for, as there were damgages. This may lead to one of you out there. Carmichael was equally damaged in this, and he is also suing. Until this is resolved, there will be no email with "George Irvine" on it from any source. It will all come from my family and friends. I realize that there are several big time dive instructors out there who have a tough time with me. However, there are enough people out there who have learned our methods to keep all of these guys honest with or without me. That is what they are so pissed about, and that is why they focus on me. The fact is I am what I am, and you just can not ever take that away, and you can not silence that. My track record stands in stark contrast to yours, and my personality is not what anyone dives with - so why discuss it? Anything you want to know about me, ask and get an honest answer. It makes no difference. Nobody cares about "me", they just want real information from a real player - that is all they get from me. Can you complaining crybaby dive instructors say the same? You can not, so drop it and move on. There is no "smear" anything. IANTD and TDI are here to stay, so let's change them from the inside out - that is your job, not mine. Figure it out and get with the program before you get sued or regulated out of business. My guess is you all have one more year at the current torrid pace of accidents and then you are done, along with GUE and everyone else in dive instruction other than NAUI and PADI type stuff. That would then put advanced learning back into the underground, where it came from. Is that what you instrucotors want?
