I tried to post this yesterday, was returned. My apologies if this is a re- post. Here is the only PUBLISHED report I can find concerning the death of Harvey Leonard on the Oregon. Does anyone have INFORMATION (not speculation) on the autopsy results?? Report is from Newsday, the Long Island newspaper. ****************************************************************************** ************************* An experienced Brooklyn diver died Friday while exploring a shipwreck in the Atlantic Ocean about 12 miles south of Patchogue, Suffolk police said. Harvey Leonard, 60, of Sheepshead Bay was discovered unconscious in 120-foot-deep waters by another diver on the expedition at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, said Det. Sgt. Robert Doyle of the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad. The diver inflated Leonard's life vest and brought him to the surface. An unidentified person on the Sea Hunt, a chartered diving boat the divers had taken from Freeport, notified the U.S. Coast Guard about the incident and a helicopter took Leonard to J.T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, Doyle said. Leonard was pronounced dead at 4:02 p.m., police said. An autopsy was performed on Leonard's body by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office in Hauppauge. Further tests are being performed to determine the cause of death. Efforts to reach Leonard's family were unsuccessful. Copyright 1998, Newsday Inc.
