Andy,
The characterizations Bob used for Harvey, are very similar to the same ones
which could be used for a dozen of the other remaining old-time legends in
diving. In the dive industry, many of the oldtimers who are the biggest
characters, who are much larger than life, who we really enjoy having in our
"universe" of diving, are in exactly the same financial and non-technical
"comfort zone" as I assume Harvey was from Bob's post. . If they were
instead, some money hungry accountant type, they might be well off
financially, but have no large number of us mourning their passing.

I'd be alot more impressed with Harvey being what I got from Bob's post,
than I would from some one else's post where they talked about how well he
left his estate, taxes and the usual obituary.

So Harvey was a major character, far from boring, and probably fun to
listen to and be around. He would probably be much prouder of "sticking it"
to Con Ed, than of how closely he resembled the DIR diver ---and this is
cool, because we need colorful, Ernest Hemingway type characters to make
life more enjoyable to all of us. I'm sure I would have enjoyed watching his
antics, had I had the opportunity to have known him. I wish I had been able
to.
Regards,
Dan Volker
