None of these boats have ever even asked to see a C Card, and two of them announce, formally, that all diving, decompression, and choices are up to me, that they are specifically not involved. You then sign a waiver that says exactly that, and are left alone to do as you wish. One of them (Sunshine Coast Tours) is the finest "tech" boat in B.C., and will let you do anything you want, and will go out of their way to make sure you have the helium and oxygen to do it. Why? Because they don't want any liability, and "captains" foolish enough to place requirements on divers or dives assume some level of liability by doing so. The liability follows the responsibility, and the responsibility follows the person who makes the choices. Make any of the choices, and you assume some of the liability. Stay out of the police business, and you assume none of the liability.
