Dennis, In Belgium, there are mainly three types of diving; a).Diving in flooded quarries, water temperature averages 5-6=B0 C at b= ottom (max depth 30-40 mfw). b).Diving in the Oosterschelde, which is located in the Netherlands and= is a saltwater inlet of the Northsea. Diving is done either from the shore= , or by renting a boat. Depths average 25-45 msw, tidal restrictions have to= be respected. Current runs up to about 1.5 knots between tides (place dependent , ask before you dive!) . c). Diving in the Northsea , which is solely done by renting a place o= n a boat. There are a lot of wrecks; also strict times for diving due to ti= dal restrictions. Depth range 20-60 msw. Water temperatures for b) and c) range from 1=B0C in the winter month= s to 18=B0C during July - September. At the moment , we have 17=B0C in the Oosterschelde. Visibility averages 2-6 meters in the Oosterschelde, perh= aps 10 meters when the weather remains calm for a few weeks. In the Northse= a, average visibility is about the same, but can be very good in some plac= es, also weather dependent. If you want, I will send you the addresses of some dive-shops, which I = know handle all three types of diving, via private E-mail.
