I would like to thank the many people who have e-mailed me publicly and privately with good advice. I was surprised that the first e-mail I received congratulated me on my bravery. But I do now see how most divers would be fearful of publicizing their mistakes, especially on the Internet. This is obviously not a good thing - we should all try to learn from each other, including each other's mistakes. I would be happy to post other "learning experiences" on my web site. I will clean up any spelling or grammar, and format in HTML. If you want to be identified, fine. If you don't, that's fine too. FWIW, I am shopping around for prices, but I will be buying a stainless steel backplate and wings, and rigging it in Hogarthian fashion with a friend. I have not decided between DiveRite, AUL, and Halcyon. Recommendations, or offers of used wings and backplate (in the New York area) are welcome. Further ahead, I am probably going to permanently twin up my Al tanks with isolation manifolds, and convert to DIN. A new set of steel tanks is probably not in my (financial) future, which explains the steel backplate. One of the best recommendations was from Bill Wolk, to consider some technical training with an appropriate instructor. After a little thought, I have got about as far as my prior training goes.
