Speaking of reports, has there been yet a comprhensive report - by IANTD or
anyone else - on the actual facts of the WPB debacle? So many statements of
unknown accuracy were made here, and repeated so many times, that they have
become the accepted account of what happened - yet for all we know, much of
those facts may also be just Volkerisms like the ones referred to above.

For example, was the student really wearing 4 steels? Was he really wearing
redundant bondage wings? And probably most important of all, could he
really have had only 89 previous dives?

Best I can recall, the agency in that disaster was also IANTD, so the board
referred to in Tom's post must have done a similar investigation to what he
has described. Are the results available?
