Carl - I guess I wasn't thinking of JUST the technology (which -- as you noted -- is almost there today) but more of the combination of technology and physiology. After watching on-going debates for years over decompression algoriths, fast vs. slow tissues, etc., I thought that maybe in 20 years there'd be mo'-betta information on what _really_ happens... so, in conjunction with technology, 12 hr dives @ 600' would be within the realm of the recreational diver (with a damn fine dry suit, well plumbed and well stocked!). ... Actually, for dives of that depth and duration, it's probably much more feasible to imagine 1ATM suits being more commonplace. -------------------------------------------- E-mail: rlair00@ig*.pe*.co* (Robert Laird) --------------------------------------------
